The Fortune of Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings

The whole baranggay in the archipelago awaits for the return of their favorite Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings this October 2, 2011 as an opening game versus the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters for the 37th season of the PBA.

But let us evaluate their performance last season and their preparation this opening season...

Last season, BGK entered the finals against the Talk N Text Tropang Texters in the Commissioner's Cup Finals. Because of the over-whelming power of the Tropang Texters inside the paint and outside the arc, BGK cannot find an antidote to the poison given to them and gave the Tropang Texter their second championship in the season.

In the Governor's Cup, teams where stacked in the upper part of the standings. And because of the "quotient-system", BGK must defeat their opponent as well as TNT must defeat Petron Blaze Boosters in order to set their second face-off in the finals. Even BGK won the game, TNT lose to Petron by a large margin, and kiss their hopes goodbye for another showdown against the TNT.

Now in the off-season, BGK drafted Reil Cervantes in the first round, and James Martinez (they gave to Powerade) in the second round in the recently concluded PBA Draft 2011.

With Siot Tanquincen taking over the coaching chores from Jong Uichico, BGK faced another problem regarding in their line up. Rudy "The H-Bomb" Hatfield wont return to their line up for good and Jayjay Helterbrand is contemplating for retirement.

What will be the fortune of BGK this coming season? Is there any player movements in order to shaken up their roster and improve it like what SMC did to Petron Blaze Boosters and BMEG Llamados, their sister teams.

Will Siot bring back the winning glory of the team?

I hope that BGK will, again, rule the PBA this coming season!
